During a coronavirus task force briefing on Friday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that the country should not be “pulling back” on COVID-19 mitigation measures despite seeing signs that the curve of outbreaks may be starting to level. He also praised the commitment of central U.S. states, who have been working to ensure that they do not have spikes in cases.
