U.S. stocks rocketed higher on Monday for the biggest gains in nearly two weeks, after a decrease in the daily COVID-19 death toll in New York fueled optimism that the virus outbreak could be leveling off in major cities. The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 1600 points for a gain of nearly 8 per cent, while the S&P 500 rose 7 per cent.
