U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, speaking from 10 Downing Street where he remains in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, addressed the country in a video message calling it a “sad, sad day” after a record 563 deaths in a single day were confirmed on Wednesday. The number was the largest increase the country had seen since the first death was reported and brought the death toll to 2,352 as of 4 p.m. local time on March 31.
