Coronavirus outbreak: WHO director ‘deeply concerned’ about escalation of cases as deaths worldwide near 50,000

On Wednesday, World Health Organization (WHO) director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that he is “deeply concerned” about the “rapid escalation and global spread” of COVID-19, adding that they expect to reach 1 million confirmed cases and 50,000 deaths worldwide within the next few days.
