Coronavirus outbreak: WHO searches for balance between privacy and protecting communities

The World Health Organization emergencies programme director Dr. Michael Ryan stressed they are working to ensure all measures taken in fight against COVID-19 are not interfering with privacy rights. He said the gathering of information for Public Health about individuals and movements must be done with consent. He added, however, that it’s better through trust and community engagement that individuals can offer “individual sovereignty” to help the overall community.
