The Tokyo 2020 Olympics were postponed for one year on March 24, the first such delay in the games’ 124-year modern history, as the COVID-19 pandemic wrecked the world’s last sporting showpiece still standing this year. IOC chief Thomas Bach said on Tuesday that postponement is “to safeguard the health of the athletes and everybody involved in the Olympic Games”
