Nova Scotia Minister of Municipal Affairs Chuck Porter explained on Sunday what the newly-announced provincial state of emergency means. Porter said the declaration gives the government the authority to enforce these measures like controlling or prohibiting assembly, as well as to monitor travel to and from the province.
