U.S. President Donald Trump announced during Thursday’s Coronavirus task force briefing that Lebanese-American citizen Amer Fakoury has been released from prison, and is on his way back to the U.S. Fakoury has been imprisoned in Lebanon since September 2019, and is reported to be battling late-stage cancer.
Trump thanked the Lebanese government for their collaboration and called on the Syrian government to release another American citizen, Austin Tice, who has been imprisoned in Syria since 2012.
