Algerian women scuffled with and shouted at security forces in the capital city Algiers on Sunday during a protest to mark International Women’s Day. While some women around the world marked the day with uplifting rallies, the women in Algeria had a different message. “We are not here to celebrate. We are here to demand freedom, not to celebrate,” said a protester.
