World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus started his Friday morning press conference on COVID-19 by acknowledging International Women’s Day, upcoming on Sunday March 8. He said it’s a moment to remember that around the world many women still can’t access essential health services and continue to suffer from preventable and treatable diseases. He added that women make up to 70% of the global health workforce but hold only 25% of senior roles, saying the WHO is committed to promoting gender equality especially in the health workforce .
