Violence against paramedics, healthcare workers at core of Bill C-211

In early March 2020, a Peterborough paramedic was assaulted by someone who had originally called 911 for help. Randy Mellow, Chief of Paramedics for Peterborough County, and President of Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, says such incidents are on the rise.
He says 75% of paramedics experience violence in the workplace, from spitting to biting and more.
Paramedic Chiefs across Canada are pushing for support of a bill that would see harsher penalties in cases of assault against first responders and healthcare workers.
