Britain’s Prince William and his wife, Kate, met Irish President Michael D. Higgins and his wife on Tuesday. The meeting marked the first part of the royal couple’s official three-day visit to the Republic of Ireland. William then followed in Queen Elizabeth’s footsteps by laying a wreath at Dublin’s Garden of Remembrance, which is dedicated to those who gave their lives for Irish independence from the UK.
