On Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited the Maison des Esclaves on Gorée Island in Senegal, which operated as a slave trading post during the African transatlantic slave trade. Trudeau stated that the world must “remember the horrors and the tragedies of the past” as well as “reflect on their impacts today and into the future.”
