New Iraq prime minister vows to hold internationally-monitored elections

Iraq’s president appointed Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi as prime minister on Saturday after parties failed to name a candidate nearly two months after Adel Abdul-Mahdi was ousted by mass protests. In his first address, Allawi said he would hold early internationally-monitored elections.
