The Broadcasting and Telecommunications Legislative Review Panel recommended in a press conference on Wednesday that the CBC get out of selling advertising within five years, saying it takes away from their public interest mandate. They also said their recommendation for a change in CBC’s mandate was to ensure the organization can combat misinformation, saying it has a “critical role” to play both national and international markets.
