During Wednesday’s Emergency Committee meeting on the novel coronavirus, World Health Organization officials met to discuss the outbreak, with the group’s director Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus saying the decision to declare an international public health emergency is one he takes “extremely seriously.” He added that the WHO is on the ground in China investigating the outbreak and gathering additional information. As of Jan. 22, an international public health emergency has not been declared.
