Firefighters from the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service came to the aid of a mother and baby koala who were found on the bushfire-ravaged Kangaroo island by providing them with water on Thursday. Veterinarians estimate that 30,000 koalas have been killed in the Kangaroo Island blazes, which burned through 215,000 hectares.
