On Tuesday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing on the recent escalation in tensions with Iran following the killing of Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani, and the Trump administration’s response. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was invited to come to the hearing, but declined. Committee Chairman Eliot Engel addressed Pompeo’s absence at the start of the hearing, saying the American people deserve to have answers about what is happening in Iran.
