As the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump looms, the White House has signalled it does not expect it to be dismissed quickly and a Republican senator is working with a small group in her caucus to ensure both sides can call witnesses. A senior Trump official has also said the president plans to invoke executive privilege to prevent former national security advisor John Bolton from testifying.
