U.S. lawmakers give impassioned pleas ahead of House war powers vote

U.S. lawmakers gave passionate speeches on Thursday ahead of a vote on a war powers resolution intended to limit President Donald Trump’s military actions against Iran without congressional approval.

Republican Rep. Mark Meadows and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy urged their colleagues to vote against the resolution, while Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said lawmakers should pass it and ‘move toward peace, not escalation of hostilities’.
