Weeks prior to President Donald Trump’s announcement in November that he planned to designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, several top aides and cabinet members voiced their concerns against it. Despite this, Trump forged ahead and while it has been delayed, an official says it could be revived depending on Mexico’s cooperation on drug trafficking and immigration control.
