In a complicated mission with strong winds and high waves on Sunday, the Italian Coast Guard used a helicopter to rescue twelve crew members from a ship that had crashed into a cliff off the cost of Sardinia. The vessel was travelling to Spain, but ran aground on Saturday due to severe weather conditions, and a rescue was not possible until the following day.
