Fires rage as Lebanon forces clash with anti-government protesters

Troops in Beirut clashed with hundreds of anti-government demonstrators who threw rocks and launched fireworks on Friday to protest the designation of former education minister Hassan Diab as Lebanon’s next prime minister. The government had been seeking a new leader since Saad al-Hariri’s resignation in October amid political tensions within the country.
