Switzerland begins historic nuclear shutdown, closes 47-year-old power plant

Switzerland’s 47-year-old Muehleberg power station was permanently switched off on Friday, marking the start of the country’s exit from atomic power. Switzerland’s government said that it would not build any new nuclear reactors and would decommission all existing plants at the end of their lifespan.
