When NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh asked if the Canadian government would respect “basic human rights” in regards to the treatment of Indigenous children in Canada, Minister of Indigenous Services Marc Miller stated that the government has nearly “doubled funding to child and family services” and that all compensation orders for First Nations children “must be respected.”
