Attorney General David Lametti said Tuesday it was “troubling” to him that Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig have not had legal counsel access during their detainment in China, and said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, former foreign minister Chrystia Freeland and current minister Francois Philippe-Champagne have made getting their release a “top priority.”
