Celebrated humanitarian Stephen Lewis will launch International Education Week (IEW) at Trent University with a keynote address, highlighting the value and importance of education in today’s tumultuous world.

The university has students, staff, and faculty from 110 countries around the world. We’ll look into what happens for students and their community when young people add international education experience to their resume. iversity has a strong tradition of internationalization and diversity.

As a humanitarian, former Canadian politician, published author, a renowned public speaker, and diplomat, Stephen Lewis will share his unique global experience to inspire others to push for better quality lives around the world. His best-selling book “Race Against Time” discusses the AIDS epidemic in Africa and critiques the Millennium Development Goals, pushing for developmental solutions that are attainable in an unequal world.
He holds 42 honorary doctorates from Canadian and American universities, and in 2003, Stephen Lewis was appointed a companion of the Order of Canada, Canada’s highest honour for lifetime achievement.
In addition to the keynote, several other events are taking place at Trent for IEW, an annual celebration of the vital impact that global engagement, international knowledge, and diversity has on preparing students for the future in a globalized world.
