Young Syrian filmmaker on life under relentless bombing

Shahed Khaito was 14 when her family realized they could endure the bombing no more. It was a daily and nightly occurrence in her hometown of Zavadani, Syria for three years.
She was smuggled, along with her brother, through countless checkpoints with every stop having the potential of arrest or execution. She would not arrive in Canada until she was 20.
Khaito tells why her short film is presented the way it is, with a young boy trying to tune in to a soccer game on television.
