Laughter can heal. But when it comes to traumatic experiences like sexual assault – many find it difficult to even speak about it. One powerful – local stand up comedy show is bringing sexual assault survivors together and helping them and the audience find relief through laughter. The ‘rape is real and everywhere’ comedy show – which gives performers carte blanche to take to the stage and joke about their personal experiences – has just wrapped up this weekend in Vancouver. It’s a controversial and difficult topic where some may even say this is a topic that can never be joked about.
