Dozens from Israel’s LGBT community on July 14 called for the dismissal of Israel’s education minister, Rafael Peretz, after he voiced support for so-called gay “conversion therapy.” Peretz, an Orthodox rabbi and head of the ultranationalist United Right party, who assumed the education portfolio in the Netanyahu-led coalition last month, said in a television interview on July 13 that he believed conversion therapy can work.
