Russian rocket launches carrying space observatory

Russian space agency Roscosmos launched on July 13 a Russian heavy-lift rocket Proton-M from Baikonur Cosmodrome. In a statement, the ministry said the launch was successful and the payload, a space observatory Spektr-RG, was successfully delivered into orbit. According to the Russian media, the observatory will take a stable position between the Earth and the sun with the purpose of creating a detailed star map.
