American expats protest treatment of migrants at Mexico City’s U.S. embassy

American expats joined Mexicans outside the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City to protest the treatment of migrants in detention centers on July 12. The protest came after a government watchdog found “dangerous overcrowding” and “standing-room-only conditions” at a border patrol facility in Texas. Protesters are calling for a more humane immigration system in the United States and to end the automatic detention of migrants.
