The sounds of bagpipes echoed throughout Victoria Park for the 56th Cobourg Scottish Festival and Highland Games on the weekend. The annual festival celebrates the Town of Cobourg’s rich Scottish history.
Hundreds took in an assortment of piping and drumming competitions, Highland dancing performances and the popular heavy events such as the hammer and stone toss which attract competitors from across Canada.
There were also a variety of vendors and even Shakespeare readings and a presentation on Scottish food, clothing and weapons.
At the end of the festival, awards were presented to the top performers in the musical and dancing competitions.
