Peterborough police and Special Olympians took to the streets for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run on Thursday morning.
The group left the police station on Water Street and ventured down George Street.
During their jaunt, collections were gathered all in support of Special Olympics.
The run originated in the U.S. in 1981 and was first held in Canada in 1987.
I’s the largest grassroots fundraising event for Special Olympics which has raised more than $63 million in Canada alone.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics.
