Vanessa Rodel, a woman who escaped violence and human trafficking, and helped shelter former CIA whistleblower Edward Snowden when he fled to Hong Kong in 2013, spoke during a press conference on Tuesday in Toronto saying she was “grateful” and “felt free” after being granted refugee status in Canada with her seven-year-old daughter.
