Former Marine and single-leg amputee smashes world record for transatlantic solo rowing

A former British Royal Marine has smashed the world record for transatlantic solo rowing by 36 days. Named ‘the Rowing Marine’, 49 year-old, single leg amputee Lee Spencer not only became the world’s first physically disabled person to do the crossing, but also beat the able-bodied record for rowing solo across the Atlantic, from mainland Europe to mainland South America.
