NYPD commissioner says investigators believe Det. Brian Simonsen was killed by friendly fire

Authorities say 42-year-old NYPD Det. Brian Simonsen was shot in the chest while responding to an attempted robbery call in Queens on Tuesday. NYPD commissioner James O’Neill said investigators believe Simonsen was killed by friendly fire.
