The Canadian government was given a big boost Monday in its diplomatic dispute with China. An open letter signed by scholars and former diplomats calls on the Chinese government to release detained Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig. It comes as Ottawa ramps up its own rhetoric against Beijing, saying Canada doesn’t need Huawei equipment for a 5G network. Mike Le Couteur reports.
