An effort to end the partial government shutdown was denied on the House floor Thursday. Democratic congressman Jim McGovern said he was trying to bring up a continuing resolution bill and fund the government, but the Republican majority refused to hear him and adjourned. McGovern told reporters that if Republicans don’t act before January 3rd to reopen the government, the Democrats will bring up their own resolution when they take control of the House next session.
