Japan will resume commercial whaling again for first time in 30 years

On Dec. 26, Japan announced that it’s leaving the International Whaling Commission and would resume commercial whaling in July for the first time in 30 years. Japanese lawmakers want to promote whales not only as a source of protein but as part of Japan’s cultural tradition.
