Kansas Senator Pat Roberts, the lone Senator on Capitol Hill on Christmas Eve, offered some hope that Washington will get out of the gridlock over the border wall and security and get the government out of a partial shutdown. Outside the Capitol, Senator Roberts said the border has become a political issue where no side is giving in, but believed “we will get past this.” Roberts also said he hopes that the shutdown does not stretch into the new year.
