Republican lawmakers focus on alleged partisan bias during Google hearing

A dispute between Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Congressman Lamar Smith erupted on Capitol Hill when Smith accused Google of being politically biased, favouring left-wing content over conservative voices, referring to “irrefutable” evidence of an independent study from a self-proclaimed Democrat that found “96% of references of Trump is from Liberal media.” Mr. Pichai disagreed with the methodology of the study and defended the platform’s “neutral, non-partisan” algorithm.
