A winter storm has blanketed much of North Carolina with inches of snow causing numerous power outages. The National Weather Service said Sunday its office near the campus of N.C. State University had received 4.2 inches of snow. The power outage numbers across the state are expected to reach as high as 500,000, according to the utility.
