ULA calls off attempt to launch spy satellite into orbit seconds before liftoff

United Launch Alliance (ULA) on Saturday called off the Delta IV Heavy rocket launch at Vandenberg Airforce Base in California. The countdown stopped a few seconds before liftoff as the spy satellite remained on its launch pad. Small flames could be seen igniting the base of the engines followed by clouds of smoke. This was the second attempt to launch the rocket into orbit on behalf of the National Reconnaissance Office after a scrubbed try on Friday.
