Privacy commissioner says Statistics Canada fell “way short” of being transparent about project to harvest bank data

Canada’s privacy commissioner Daniel Therrien said Statistics Canada failed to disclose key details to his office about a controversial plan to harvest detailed financial transaction data about 500,000 Canadian households.
