Researchers at the University of British Columbia have made a breakthrough that could eliminate one worry over blood transfusions. Enzymes in the stomach can be harnessed to convert incompatible blood types into type O blood, the one that is safe for anyone to receive. As Eric Sorensen reports, it would go a long way to dealing with blood shortages and ensuring all transfusions are safe.
