Steve Goldstein of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said at a news conference Thursday that Hurricane Lane had winds up to 130 mph. He added that more than 30 inches of rain is possible in some areas of Hawaii. and it could lead to flooding, dangerous surf of 20 feet, and a storm surge of up to 4 feet above normal levels.
