Thousands of sea turtles wash up on beach in Mexico during height of nesting season

Thousands of sea turtles have landed on beaches on Mexico’s Pacific coast at the start of their nesting season. Mexico’s National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) shared video on Twitter on July 6 showing the olive ridley sea turtle landing on Morro Ayuta beach in Oaxaca to lay their eggs. CONANP said in a statement it was working with other Mexican government agencies to monitor and secure the beaches during the nesting season.
