China says it responded after U.S. raised tariffs ‘unfairly’ as trade war begins

The United States and China slapped tit-for-tat duties on $34 billion worth of the other’s imports on Friday, with Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang saying China’s actions only came after the U.S. raised tariffs “unfairly”.
