Belgian prosecutors said on Wednesday that the shooting in Liege may have been inspired by Islamic State militants. The gunman, named by Belgian media as Benjamin Herman, a 31-year-old Belgian drug dealer who had been in jail for years, had shouted “Allahu Akbar”, the Muslim affirmation of faith, during his attack and he had had contacts with Islamist radicals in jail in 2016 and early 2017, federal prosecutor Eric Van Ser Sypt told a news conference.
